Meet the Directors

"What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil-this is the gift of God." - Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 (NIV)

rogerRoger Kobel says, "The most satisfying "toil" (literally task) in my life is my involvement in Upward Basketball. God has given me a burden to see young people grow closer to Him - to understand Him. He has also given me a love for the game of basketball. Unlike most, I do not have children who participate in Upward. My children are now adults and enjoyed sports other than basketball. However, as verse 11 states, it is my time in life to be involved in the Upward ministry. I love Jesus, I love young people and I love basketball. There could not be a better ministry for me! My prayer is that your young man or young lady through the Upward ministry learn something about the eternity that God has placed in their heart and that they grow closer to the God of the universe."
