“… Your church can give people Christ, but if it doesn’t also give them a friend, after a few months you’ll lose them.” Stats say as high as 85% of people who come to church do so because of the invitation of a friend or relative. While God is the exception to all stats because He is sovereign, stats can be used of God to awaken us to His work around us. Are you a friend to sinners? Are we ensuring that people are building friendships with God and others?
“If you want to increase your significance, focus your energies on significant activities: those which will remain for eternity.” Are you making a significant impact by prioritizing the eternal matters? Are we gossiping the gospel or sounding more like the world in our speech? What’s in our heart comes out of our mouth. May God and His gospel reign in our hearts so that our speech is seasoned with the gospel of God’s grace.
The Bible says of Jesus, “And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must first deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Luke 8:34-35
