Building Blocks Story...

We're truly blessed to have the opportunity to partner with families in discipling children. Recently, I asked our Building Blocks teachers to share any stories/testimonies about the children's spiritual experiences. Tracy Johnson, one of the teachers, shared the following:

"I do have one story...Robert Carrithers took the class this last time and called me after week 5 (the week we present the plan of salvation). He called to let me know he had asked Jesus into his heart that day. There were tears in my eyes after that because I have known Robert since infancy and he is a special young man. The Lord used that phone call as a blessing to remind me that's why we do what we do."

Thanks, Tracy, for sharing this story. And Robert, we're proud of you!

Building Blocks is a six-week class for elementary children who would like to deepen their understanding of what it means to be a Christian. The next class will begin on January 10 at 9:15 am for six weeks. Please let me know if your child is interested in attending this class.

To those of you who are currently teaching or helping, feel free to share your stories, too. And thanks so much for loving and guiding the children.

God's blessings to each one of you.

Julia

More Exciting Happenings...

The Lord is gracious to us and continues to bless us with new and returning teachers to disciple children. I'm excited for those of you who're using the gifts God has given you in guiding and leading children to Christ. Thank you.

The new Mission Possible and Mission Possible, Jr. programs are going well. Our leaders and children love the new mission education curriculum and suggested activities. And we're blessed by our church members who shared stories and pictures about their mission work in Brazil and Kenya. Others who've been on mission trips will also share their experiences in the coming weeks.

If you haven't done so, please mark these Vacation Bible School dates on your calendar- July 12-16, 2010, 9am-noon. The VBS Family Night will be on Thursday, July 15, 6:30pm. Plan to get involved in this exciting outreach ministry next summer!

In Christ,

Julia

Exciting Happenings....

The Sunday School Promotion on August 2 went well. I'm excited about serving alongside our new and returning children's leaders, teachers, helpers, and parents. I'd appreciate your continued support and prayers for our children, families, children's ministry staff and volunteers.

We've been making plans and preparations for the children's programs that will resume in the next few weeks on Sunday evenings (AWANA) and Wednesday evenings (Music & Mission).  What a wonderful opportunity to disciple children and to see them grow in their relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

We've also decided on the dates for next year's Vacation Bible School.  Please mark these on your calendar - July 12-16, 2010, 9a.m. - noon.  The VBS Family Night will be Thursday, July 15, 6:30p.m.  If you're interested in helping us determine the theme, etc., let me know.

Blessings,

Julia

Children's Day Was a Success!

Thanks to the children who participated in Children's Day on Sunday, May 17, 2009.  Special thanks to Tom and Betsy Goldsmith and Jessica Nichols for their testimonies and enthusiasm in serving in the Children's Ministry.

Quite a few youth and adults responded to our invitation to serve in Vacation Bible School (June 22-26, 9am-noon).  Thank you!
